Reading and Writing in Science
Throughout the year there will be a large focus on both reading and writing in science class. Students will utilize non-fiction texts to learn new information, create formal lab reports, and cite data and references for projects in and out of school. The use of reading and writing skills will help students to be successful across the curriculum. For more information on expected reading and writing skills please see the Common Core State Standards link - http://www.corestandards.org/ELA-Literacy/RST/6-8
Next Generation Science Standards
Connecticut is one of many states to adopt the Next Generation Science Standards. These nationally accepted standards will govern the content that students learn throughout the year. Please review the standards and look forward at what you or your student will learn in 8th grade!
